These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Nota platform operated by Nota ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using Nota, you agree to these Terms.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use Nota. If you are using Nota through a university or institution, you must also comply with your institution's acceptable use policies.
2. Your account
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You agree to provide accurate information when registering and to keep it up to date. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
3. Your content
You retain ownership of all content you create on Nota (notes, documents, canvas work, annotations, tasks). We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your content. You grant us a limited license to host, store, and display your content as necessary to provide the service.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Nota for any unlawful purpose
- Upload content that infringes on others' intellectual property rights
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data
- Distribute malware, spam, or other harmful content through the platform
- Use AI features to generate content that violates academic integrity policies
- Reverse-engineer or decompile the compiled service (source is available on GitHub under MIT License)
5. AI features
Nota provides AI-powered study tools (summaries, flashcards, contextual help). These tools are designed to assist your learning, not to produce ready-made answers. AI outputs may contain inaccuracies - you are responsible for reviewing and verifying any AI-generated content before submitting it for academic evaluation.
6. Availability and changes
We strive to keep Nota available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time with reasonable notice.
7. Data and privacy
Your use of Nota is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.
8. Open-source license
Nota's source code is available under the MIT License. The MIT License applies to the source code; these Terms govern your use of the hosted service at nota.college.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Nota is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, including loss of data. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (if any).
10. Termination
You can delete your account at any time from your settings. We may terminate or suspend your access if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, sections regarding intellectual property, liability, and dispute resolution survive.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. We will notify you of material changes by email or in-app notification.
